Coop Hacks is an independent guide for backyard chicken keepers in the United States: beginners getting their first hens, and keepers in their first few years who want more eggs, healthier birds and fewer losses.
What you’ll find here
- Plain-English answers to the problems keepers actually search for: hens that stop laying, winter care, feeding, coop size, predators and sick birds.
- Small, practical “coop hacks” that save time, money and birds.
- Honest gear advice when a product helps, and a clear “you don’t need it” when it doesn’t.
How we write our guides
- We build every guide from reliable sources: land-grant university extension services (Penn State, University of Minnesota, UC ANR, Oregon State and others), USDA, the Merck Veterinary Manual and peer-reviewed poultry science. Sources are listed at the end of each article.
- We never invent testimonials, flock stories or “lab tests”.
- Health content is general information. It never replaces a poultry veterinarian, your state extension office or your state poultry lab.
- We update guides when recommendations change (for example avian influenza guidance) and show the update date on each article.
How the site is funded
Coop Hacks is free to read. It is funded by the sale of our own guide (an ebook) and by affiliate links: as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. Details are on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
